The Valley of Lightning is the first photographic exhibition by Yari Copt organized by the Municipality of Riva San Vitale in collaboration with CasaGalleria.ART which is presented at the Palazzo Comunale from 29 October until 4 December 2022 through the exhibition of 15 photographic paintings backlit where the protagonists are the lightning of the skies of Ticino and beyond. The photographic works were created by the author in the middle of the night to give life to colorful, unique, and spectacular choreographies of lightning that are immortalized while traveling at a speed of 300,000 kilometers per second..
The Yari Copt exhibition created through a nocturnal path specially created to make the use of the exhibition more immersive invites the visitor to a unique experience of its kind: the vision of a photographic exhibition in the dark of the night where the illuminated paintings stand out.
The project "La Valle dei Fulmini" which makes its debut in Riva San Vitale was born to tour all of Switzerland thanks to its double value; on the one hand, its artistic strength, given by creativity and originality, and on the other hand, for its intrinsic scientific value on the subject of lightning which will be explained through graphic info in collaboration with Meteo Swiss. Ticino is known to be the capital of lightning in Europe where, due to the high instability, due to the high and humid summer temperatures, and the morphology of the mountainous territory, it becomes the perfect place where the most favorable meteorological conditions develop for the formation of sudden and more and more powerful summer storms.
The inauguration of the exhibition is scheduled for Saturday 29 October 2022 at 5.30 pm at the Palazzo Comunale of Riva San Vitale in the presence of the artist Yari Copt with the greetings of the Hon. Antonio Guidali, mayor and the Hon. Noris Guarisco, head of department, and presentation by Silvia Torricelli CasaGalleria.ART.
Yari Copt is a multifaceted artistic figure, born in Lugano in 1979. His passions have always pushed him to go beyond the limits to reach important goals. Known in Ticino for his radio voice and as a musician, today thanks to his nocturnal passion for the most extreme adventure in contact with nature, he has also become a "storm chaser", literally someone who goes hunting for lightning. Copt supported by his smartphone does not take his eyes off the screen where he carefully follows the weather radars, anticipating storms, he launches in pursuit of thunderstorms to go and stop where he can photograph the lightning that will stand out in the sky with their dazzling energy.
