of the photography exhibition
“Essere Umani” by the Swiss photographer Andrea Santicoli,
scheduled for November 19th at 6.00 pm in Lugano.
A path in black and white that of Santicoli made up of portraits of everyday life, often also "stolen moments", which release a profound humanity. Its protagonists are people, couples, old men and women, children, from different countries, colors but united by big smiles and ironic expressions, love from street scenes. Yes, because the photographer is able to capture the feelings, the expressions that do not need words. It is a journey that the author traveled with his Leica Monochrome camera from which he never separates, made from a different perspective, that of a person in a wheelchair who has found in photography the great passion and purpose of life. in artistic terms. His ability to shoot special situations becomes a strength in obtaining wonderfully different images such as those that will be on show in Lugano and his authentic stylistic signature. The images give that intense instinctive emotion of the "stolen moment" inspired by the great masters of photography such as Henri Cartier Bresson and Robert Doisneau.
Andrea Federico Santicoli born in '64. Swiss, lives and works in Lugano.
He is a relationship manager, executive director of Julius Baer. Street photography has become his greatest passion and every day he feels that need to shoot, to confront people, and to tell stories, through his special and intense eye.
The exhibition is curated by Silvia Torricelli and Yuri Catania's CasaGalleria MonteGeneroso and is held in an unconventional space, a historic frame studio in the center of Lugano, that of Francesco Di Gregorio, president of the Galleria La Loggia di Carona. Many of the paintings on display are printed with the Platino Palladio Tipia technique.
The event is organized in collaboration with WOPART, the art fair of works on paper held in Lugano from 18 to 21 November at the Congress Center.
Sponsor of the evening will be the Azienda Agricola Bianchi di Arogno organic farm which will offer local products certified Bio Suisse and Sambì, an alcoholic drink from the fermentation of sambuca flowers.
